We are pleased to announce that the 2019 Sheffield Grand Prix will be held on Wednesday 24th July. The event, now in it’s 8th year will again be part of the HSBC UK | British Cycling National Elite Circuit Race Series and will attract the UK’s top teams and riders to race around the 1.4km circuit.
For over a decade, the British Cycling’s Elite Circuit Series has brought together a handful of the very best town and city centre cycle races in the UK under the umbrella of the HSBC UK | British Cycling Elite Circuit Series. Membership of this exclusive group of events guarantees the highest quality field with some of Great Britain’s best professional and Olympic cyclists regularly participating.
As with previous years, a supporting regional circuit race will precede the main elite event and will be open to 2nd, 3rd and 4th category male and female riders. The event takes place in the heart of Sheffield’s city centre with early evening activity focused on the Peace Gardens and Pinstone Street. The first race will start at 7.00pm and the Sheffield Grand Prix will bring the evening to a climax with the countries top professional riders racing around the city centre circuit for just over an hour. Each lap of just over 1.4km includes a cobbled section and sweeps past famous landmarks such as the Crucible Theatre and Sheffield Town Hall. For the watching public, the Sheffield Grand Prix is a free spectacle for all the family and brings World class athletes to the streets of the city.
Entries will be live soon via the British Cycling online entry system. Event director, Marc Etches commented, “We are really looking forward to planning this year’s event and with the help from Sheffield City Council and British Cycling, will again show that we are one of the best circuit races in the UK.”
